Sycamore Plant Fossil LeafDescription: The Platanus found in the Green River Formation have between three to eight lobes. This is a three lobed specimen. It exhibits a deep dark chocolate color, contrasting beautifully against the gray matrix. The venation is excellent and most of the petiole is intact.

The Green River Formation holds one of the world’s richest depositories of fossil leaves, plants, vines and aquatic vegetation. My provider alone shows over seventy species he collects. Surely there are many more found. Not only is the variety of plant life phenomenal, the preservation is often superb. The Green River fossils I am offering are collected with the permission of the property owner on privately held land.
