Description: A very well preserved collection of Fossil flora from Central Nevada. The centerpiece of this collection is the large and rare Lyonothamnus (Ironwood) stem. 60-mms. Note it’s exquisite preservation and ghostly color. Also noteworthy is the subtly colored and delicate orbicular Ribes (Currant) leaf. Nevada has many fossil plant producing localities. They show that the state once had a much wetter and more temperate climate back in the Miocene. There were many more lakes in what is now the driest state in the USA. The Sierra uplift dramatically changed the climate and rainfall in the state. The specimens will be fully labeled, protected and enclosed in an attractive glass covered riker mount.

Lyonothamnus (Ironwood) branch 110-=mms
Ribes (Currant) leaf 15-mms
Quercus sp. (oak) 40-mms
Abies (Fir) seed 12-mms
Sequoia seed pod 30-mms.
