Dominican Amber Cockroach and AntDescription: We have as a very displayable inclusion a fine Cockroach, a member of an Order that has been in existence for over 300 million years. The Dictyoptera represent the Cockroaches and Mantids, and were split off from the Orthoptera (Grasshoppers and Crickets). The Cockroaches fall into the Sub-Order Blattodea. There are over 4,000 known cockroach species extant today, with most of them inhabiting the tropics. It is found in association with several ants, making for an interesting piece.
