Description: This fine example shows a weevil with incredibly detailed preservation. Another name for weevils is snout beetles; this one has the trademark "snout" well in evidence. Notice too the fine striations of the elytra (wing covers). The Green River Formation deposits of Wyoming, Colorado, and Utah are best known for their immaculately-preserved fish, but other examples are known as well, as this specimen attests.
