Paraszechuanella
sp
Trilobites
Order Corynexochida, Family Leiostegiidae
Geological
Time: Ordovician
Size: The
trilobites are 3” and 2 7/8” in length on an 11 x 9” flat
plate
Fossil Site:
Yinchufu Series, Yongshun, Hunan Province, China
Description:
Presented is a large impressive plate of two Paraszechuanella
from the Ordovician of China. Both specimens are full sized adults,
well articulated, fully prone and aesthetically centered on the
thick limestone plate. They give off a ghostly appearance, silver
white against the faded black background. The white lines are
natural mineral intrusions, not repaired cracks.
Fossil imports from China went into a dramatic decline a few years
ago because of harsh government export regulations. Trilobite plates
like this are now virtually impossible to obtain at fossil trade
shows from Chinese fossil dealers. This double plate I obtained
from a high-end collection recently liquidated.
