 Description:
This trilobite is a member of the Order Corynexochida, Family Styginidae
known is Platyscutellum. It is distinguished by lack of fringing pygidial
spines from Thysanopeltis, and from Scutellum by the raised ribbing
of the pygidium. It is further differentiated from Scabriscutellum
in that it has a concave rather than convex cephalic rim.Its dark
exoskeleton contrasts well with lighter matrix, and displays well
in this slightly contraflexed pose. |
