Description:
Well-preserved example of a member of the Order Phacopida,
Family Phacopidae, with fine preservation. This trilobite was
prepared by Bob Carroll, a world-renowned preparator of Oklahoma
Devonian trilobites. Others may use less care, resulting in
a less desirable specimen. This trilobite was once assigned
to the genus Reedops, but is differentiated from that genus
by several features: Lochovella has well-developed tubercular
ornamentation as seen here, distinct glabellar furrows and
a squatter cephalon. Whatever you choose to call it, this is
a fine example with excellent eye facets. This one was prepared
by Bob entirely free of matrix so it can be observed from any
angle. Bob prefers to leave them attached, but let this one
stay unattached. It come with a pedestal of cut matrix for
display purposes. It is the only loose example I have ever
been able to secure.
