Fine Bettonolithus UK Trinucleid Trilobite
Order Asaphida; Family Trinucleidae
Time: Lower Ordovician
on an 80 mm squared plate
Llanvirn Series, Gilvern Hill, Powys, Wales
Well-preserved example of a Trinucleid trilobite known as Bettonolthus.
The trilobite presumably hovered at the seafloor, using its legs
to kick up particulates which then passed through the cephalic ring.
Overall, a fine example of the taxon.
