Description:
This is a remarkably detailed example showing the venation quite
clearly. The plate is solid and would make a nice display or
collection piece. Sumacs are shrubs and small trees that can
reach a height of 1–10 metres (3.3–33 ft). The leaves
are spirally arranged; they are usually pinnately compound, though
some species have trifoliate or simple leaves.
The
Green River Formation holds one of the world’s
richest depositories of fossil leaves, plants, vines and aquatic
vegetation.
My provider alone shows over seventy species he collects. Surely
there are many more found. Not only is the variety of plant life
phenomenal, the preservation is often superb.
