Solnhofen Fossil Brittlestar
Phylum: Echinodermata, Class: Ophiuroidea
is 40 mm on an 80 mm x 70 mm plate
Site: Solnhofen Limestone, Hienheim, Germany
Presented is a beautifully-preserved specimen of this classic species.
Note the fine detail on the arms. These deposits were formed in
a warm salt water lagoon. All kinds of plants and animals were incredibly
well preserved, including soft-bodied organisms and the world's
most famous fossil Archeopteryx, an early bird.
