This plaque of amber displays a most uncommon inclusion: a pseudoscorpion.
The oldest amber containing insects comes from the deposits of
Lebanon at some 135 million years of age. Deposits in Myanmar,
New Jersey, and Japan are somewhat younger. The only Mesozoic
examples are Cretaceous, with specimens having been found in
Lebanon, Myanmar, New Jersey, with a single example known from
Canada. Two species have been described from Myanmar with others
awaiting description. This one is essentially complete and relatively
easy to see.
