This is a very unusual fossil specimen from a very little known locality. The fossil flower is loose in the limestone matrix that came from a lacustrian paleoenviroment. There is also a partial Acer sp. plant leaf on the matrix.

The flora at this locality is similar to that of Florissant Colorado. Research has estimated that the paleotemperature averaged 56 degrees F during the Oligocene.
