Once in a very blue moon a truly incredible piece of amber is encountered. This is one of them, with attributes of clarity, large size , multiple trophy inclusions, a rare inclusion, and a broad diversity of insects from different insect Orders. This specimen, measuring more than 4 inches across, contains 3 trophy insects among some 30 insect inclusions. The trophies are:

Trophy 1: Rare Collembola1) a scarce 16 mm Thysanuran (commonly called a silverfish or bristletail), as well preserved as I have ever seen. This is among the few most primitive of the insects. Trophy 2: 14 mm Homoptera

2) The next trophy is, at fully 14 mm, one of the largest Homopteran (planthopper) that I have observed in amber. The pictures attest to the quality of preservation.

Trophy 3: 9 mm Homopteran3) And finally, the third trophy is another Homopteran, this one 9 mm in length.

The remainder of the insect inclusions range across many orders: 14 Dipterans; 4 Psopterans; 5 Hymenopterans (ants); a stingless bee, 3 Coleopterans, and a spider (appearing to be attacking a fly) to provide a non-insect arthropod.

A fine hand polish and rich coloring easily qualifies this specimen as the centerpiece of an amber collection. A truly stunning specimen! See the many additional pictures below.
