Lepidoptera (moth) in fossil amberThe centerpiece of this amber specimen is a fine moth (Order: Lepidoptera), with wings (wingspan = 13 mm) spread as if in flight. There is also an iridescent beetle (Coleoptera), an uncommon tumbling flower beetle (Family: Mordellidae), a stingless bee (Hymenoptera), a second small moth, an a squadron of some dozen Dipterans (flies and gnats). Very pretty, extremely clear and richly colored is this beautiful hand-polished specimen of insect included amber.
