Fossils Amber with BEES IN LOVE EMBRACE

Amber with Insects (Hymenopterans - bees)

Geological Time: Pleistocene to Pliocene

Location: Andes mountains in Colombia

Bees in death embrace may be an equivalent title for this fine amber specimen. The centerpiece of this large, hand polished amber is two bees, two huge 10-mm bees, entangled in an embrace. They likely expired in this embrace long ago in a rainforest far away, only to now be resurrected. A superb and much smaller Hymenopteran of different family, a stingless bee, as well as four Dipterans and a bark louse accompany our "Love Bees".
