Please excuse the prodigious pictures, but I simply could not help myself. In handling well over 10,000 pieces of amber, I've never seen a more phenomenal botanical specimen. This large, clear and wonderfully colored amber contains 5 complete leaves, as well as 5 nearly complete to partial leaves. Rounding out the plants is several strings of Bryophyte, that among the world's oldest terrestrial plants -- they have been found in the fossil record as far back as the Devonian period (350 mya).

While the botanical inclusions are extraordinary, this amber specimen has no shortage of nice insects inclusions making for a slice of an ecosystem in a suspended animation. The insects inclusions include a trophy, colorful Planthopper (Insect Order: Homoptera), 3 Barl Louse (Insect Order: Psocoptera), a Stingless Bee (Order: Hymenoptera), several Dipterans, one of which is a huge. Hairy-back fly (see pictures), a really cute peek-a-boo Alate (a flying termite - Order: Isoptera), an ant (Hymenoptera) and a Hemiptera. Thus, the amber contains a wide diversity of insects forms, a very nice cross section of an interacting rainforest ecosystem.

Incredible beauty and a fascinating scientific representation rates this very special amber as phenomenal.
