Ptychopariid TrilobiteDescription: The Upper McKay Formation has only been explored superficially. The terrain is quite mountainous, difficult to negotiate and is snowed in for much of the year. In the last few years a number of claims have been staked in a quite fossiliferous group of sites that are now being slowly explored and excavated. As a consequence, a rich number of new and un-described trilobite species are being unearthed, and this is one of them. The renowned paleontologist Bruce Chatterton is leading the research on these trilobites.

This specimen was found in mudstone and is as is typical for the location: somewhat distorted. Like many of these Ptychopariids found at these sites, it is exotically spiny.
