plate displays a rarely seen example of a trilobite related to the
more common Ceratarges armatus found in the Devonian deposits of Lamrakeb
near Alnif, Morocco. This one is different in large measure due to
the fact that the sweeping pleural and pygidial spines have an additional
set of subspines (hence the term spine-on-spine). Very few are found
each year, and few in such a fine state of preservation. This one
is a perfect example of the type, offered at a reasonable price, with
the distinctive spines shown to best advantage freed of any matrix
encumbrance. |
