fine amber roachDescription: This clear amber plaque displays a number of diverse insect inclusions . We have a fine Cockroach, a member of an Order that has been in existence for over 300 million years. The Dictyoptera represent the Cockroaches and Mantids, and were split off from the Orthoptera (Grasshoppers and Crickets). The Cockroaches fall into the Sub-Order Blattodea. There are over 4,000 known cockroach species extant today, with most of them inhabiting the tropics. There also are a Cisid Beetle (Coleoptera, Cisidae), several flies and gnats (Diptera), and a Wasp (Hymenoptera), making for an exceptionally diverse piece.
