Description: A member of the Order Corynexochida, Family Styginidae from the Middle Devonian deposits of Jebel Issoumour, Morocco, this is a member of the genus Metacutellum. The pustulose nature distinguishes it from most other scutellids with the exception of some in the genus Scutellum. This one most closely resembles Metascutellum pustulatum, but that species has a divided pygidial midrib about two thirds of the way. Consequently, this one is either an as yet undescribed subspecies or a new species altogether.
